50 Reasons to Turn the Damn Thing Off!

Great list! Thanks for sharing. I know that I personally watch way to much TV and it definitely has a negative impact on my life. I am going to post this list on my refrigerator!
This post really made me think. How much of life am I missing by having the television on? I have many goals that I have yet to reach and need to reprioritize my time I think…
Jake - great list. How funny was SNL back when Chris Farley was there and Mike Myers…wow, time flys. The link from #47 on the list to the SNL skit was great…thanks for the flashback!
I am right now tossing my 42 inch LCD TV out the window…yeh right.
I spend about an hour on TV each week. We do love film so that may add on a couple more hours in front of the tube though its not “TV” per se. Growing up, I was never in to TV though I had one in my room when I became a teenager. I was never that drawn to it aside sports.
I read books, never eat junk, dont have children, never watch commercials (no network TV here), never watched a soap opera (didnt know they still existed), and I do stay fit.
I love all of your reasons though!
those are a lot of great reasons, i’m sure everyone doesn’t qualify for all of them, but it just shows you how much of a waste of time tv is.
@ Trey - SNL used to be great!
@ Carla - Sounds like you can disregard most of the items on the list - pass it on to someone who may need it!!
@Trey - How ’bout SNL with John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner! That was SNL at it’s best! But then again, I’d be giving away my age!
@ Dorothy - SNL wouldn’t have ever been what it is if those original cast members weren’t there. For me at 33 I enjoyed the mid 80’s and early 90’s. I have been drawn back to SNLover the past couple of years but only if I know it will have a good guest.
I think laughter is the best medicine for many ailments.
But I guess it doesn’t get us off the couch! oh well.
Take care!
